Definition for thinspiration:
Pro-ana refers to the promotion of the eating disorder anorexia nervosa as a lifestyle choice.
So yeah, I won’t comment on that. What I will say is that I have a favourite “thinspo” quote, or rule to live by. It reads:
Don’t reward yourself with food,
you’re not a dog.
Aah, where to begin? 😀
The brain makes up only a little bit of the human body’s total volume, but consumes ~30% of the needed calorie intake. For comparison, other mammal’s brain metabolism accounts for 3-5% of their energy intake. This means that it was a great evolutionary leap for us to develop a (relatively) big brain, and it means that we need more nutrition to sustain brain activity than we would have needed for just body maintenance. You can read more about this interesting subject for instance here.
So yes, starving yourself on purpose over longer periods of time leads to less voluntary brain activity.
Dogs are most likely not capable of abstract thought processes.
